Comparison Shopping Cell Phone Recorders

When you’re shopping cell phone recorders, there is a lot to consider, and it’s easy to look at a high-end device and a lower-end cassette recorder and try to compare them head-to-head. The best way to get a really good recorder at the right price is to compare similar recorders, once you know what you need. In other words, comparing apples to apples, so to speak.

The first thing you need to do is decide what you need. How much recording time do you need? Will you want to carry around tapes? Would a digital recorder, with dozens or hundreds of hours of storage, suit you better?

Think about where you’ll be recording, and whether sound quality is a major concern for you. In general, a digital device might have slightly better, or much better, sound quality. You’ll want to compare two recorders against each other in this area.

Is size a factor? You’ll find that cassette devices can only be as small as a microcassette and the accompanying hardware. A digital cell phone recorder, on the other hand, can be as small as a plastic cigarette lighter. If you’re going to be carrying your cell phone and the recorder around, you might want to go digital.

What about storage? If you’re going to be storing your conversations and keeping them for later, you definitely want a digital recording machine, because you simply don’t want to carry those tapes around. But if you’re recording on your cell but staying in your office, that may not be as big a deal.

Your last consideration, in comparing cell phone recorders, should be the price. Some digital recorders are more expensive than some cassette recorders, and some of both type can cost more than you might want to spend. Consider how to get what you want while paying the best price, but don’t skimp to save a few bucks.
