Creating The Ideal Bathroom For Your Child

If you need to decorate your kid’s bathroom, you have some unique challenges ahead of you. Young children use the bathroom in general much more often than older kids do, and are often accompanied by a parent. That makes a kid’s bathroom much more used in general than those mostly used by an adult. However, most parents don’t know how to decorate their kid’s bathroom so that it’s whimsical and “fun”. Children can be very verbal about what they don’t like, so if you’re the parent of a young child, you might find that your kid disagrees with your design choices. This article offer some tips and ideas that parents can use to decorate a kid’s bathroom.

Knowing The Gender Behind The Decorations

When decorating a child’s bathroom, start from the gender of the child and work from that starting point. If your child is a boy, you can decorate the bathroom so that specific interests are appealed to, such as cars, bugs, cowboys, and so on. A bathroom for a girl should feature things which a boy would be less interested in; perhaps princesses and dolls. If a bathroom will be used by children of both genders, then a neutral theme should be worked towards while providing for the interests of both children. Whatever the theme, you can accessorize in a variety of different ways.

What Accessories And Decorations Can Be Used?

There are many different ways to accessorize your kid’s bathroom. For example, if your child likes to play with cars, a curtain and bathmat set that has a car pattern on it is ideal. If your child is a Disney fan, then you can get bathroom rugs with their favorite Disney characters.

Toothbrush tumblers come in hundreds of styles. Boys may enjoy a tumbler shaped like a dinosaur while girls may prefer tumblers that have a shape like a princess. Lotion pumps or hand soap can be bought to fit within your chosen theme, too.

Other things that can be used to decoration a child’s bathroom includes knobs, waste baskets, tissue dispenser and soap dishes.

For example, each knob on all bathroom wall cabinets or drawers in your kid’s bathroom can also be decorated.

You can buy knobs that look like clown faces, jungle animals, or soccer balls, depending upon what your children prefer. Similar interests can be reflected in other decorations.

As Your Child Changes, so Does the Bathroom

It’s no secret that your child’s tastes will change as they get older. Accessories and decorations can be easily replaced as your child’s passions change. Shower curtains, bathmats, soap dispensers and tumblers can all be replaced to reflect these changes.

You should avoid the use of decorations which will be hard to switch out as your child ages. A wallpaper pattern of giraffes may be very appealing to a four year old – but less so when they are twelve. This will leave you with wallpaper you’ll have to replace when your child outgrows their obsession with giraffes.

Decorating a kids bathroom is only limited by your imagination. There are so many accessories available to decorate with that the true challenge is deciding which to use. The way to put together a bathroom your child will love is to know what they are interested in and buy decorations and accessories which meet those interests. Just make sure that they are decorations which will be easy to replace as your child outgrows their interests. With a little planning and imagination, you can create the perfect bathroom for your child.
