Acupuncture Helps Patients With Constant Sinus Problems Gain Relief.

Sufferers of chronic sinus pain and congestion are often prescribed antibiotics to deal with the condition. Whilst this can be helpful to some people others are left in a never ending loop of taking antibiotics, gaining some relief, only to find their symptoms returning two or three months later, and then being prescribed another course of antibiotics.

Another course of action is to take a look at alternative approaches to dealing with this problem. There is a significant body of evidence and experience that appears to show that a change in diet can be beneficial, foods such as dairy and refined flour products have a tendency to be mucus forming, and should be avoided. Increasing the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as oily fish, in the diet will help to reduce the inflammatory states present in chronic sinus conditions.

Another alternative approach that is worth trying is acupuncture. Although acupuncture has become more main-stream over the last 25 years many people find it a mystery. But acupuncture and related medical treatments are more than 5,000 years old. Advocates are not surprised so many people are finding relief in this ancient art.
During a treatment very fine sterile needles are inserted into the skin at points along the body to stimulate the flow of energy along the energetic pathways known as channels or meridians. The Chinese call this energy “Qi” (pronounced “chee”)

The needles increase the circulation of blood and energy to the affected area and help to reduce the inflammation. A typical course of acupuncture treatment would be one or two treatments a week initially, for 6 to 8 sessions, then a maintenance treatments every 3 or 4 weeks. If changes are made to the diet as well as receiving acupuncture treatment many patients find that their sinus conditions are cleared for good.
