Consider Unique Gift Baskets As A Couples Gift Idea

My husband and I believe that staying married in this day and age is a tough thing to do. The divorce rate seems to increase annually. As a result we like to celebrate and recognize couples that we know on their anniversaries. There are times when finding the right couple gifts is a challenge. We like to find couple gifts that will be appreciated by both persons and also some how symbolizes their commitment to each other.

We have been doing this for about three years so we are finding it more and more challenging to come up with new gift ideas. We also do not want to spend a great deal of money for several reasons. One is that we do not have unlimited funds. The other is that we do not want to have the couple feel uncomfortable by giving them too lavish of a gift. Our goal is not to make people feel obligated to give us an anniversary gift, but rather to recognize their commitment to each other.

Over the years we have given friends gift certificates to their favorite restaurants so that they can enjoy an evening out together. This makes for nice couple gifts, but depending upon the restaurant this can get expensive. We have also bought romantic Gift Baskets as couple gifts. This is a great idea for some couples and the price can be controlled by what you decide to place in the baskets. One couple that we are friends with enjoys wine. We bought a bottle of their favorite wine and placed it in a basket along with a poem about commitment. A friend of mine does calligraphy so she had done the poem on a decorative piece of paper. Other couple gifts that we have done are personalized name plates that are used outside the couple’s front door. We liked this idea and found a company that made a nice product for a reasonable price, but this is a one time idea. Once they have the name plate they do not need another one the next year.

Although finding perfect couple gifts can be a challenge it is a project that we do together, so it helps strengthen our relationship. We have found that by doing the anniversary gifts we have stopped giving gifts to these people during the holidays. This allows us to save money at holiday time and also provide the couple gifts during alternate times of the year when they can be more appreciated. So many times couple gifts that are given at holiday time have little or no meaning because they are lumped in with so many other presents. By getting gifts on your anniversary you are taking some time to remember your commitment and focus on your relationship, even if it is only for the length of time it takes to open the gift. For people that we do not have a close relationship with we acknowledge their anniversary by sending a greeting card.
