Passport For Minors – Get A US Passport Today

Family vacations, particularly those that require travel out of the country all require one thing, passports. This includes Mom, Dad and all the children, whatever age they may be. Mom and Dad normally already have theirs but the children are usually another story completely. It is not that difficult to get a passport for minors under the age of 16 and will simply take a bit of time and some preparation.

All of the children within the family, no matter their age, must have their own passport and this even includes the infants. The application process must be completed in person with both of the parents or guardians present. This is a requirement for any minor 16 years of age or younger, without exception. The parents or guardians must show proof of their relationship to the minor along with providing a copy of their own identification to submit with the minor’s application.

Minors age 16 and 17 also must appear in person with a parent/guardian present in order to apply for a U.S. Passport. The offices accepting in-person applications are a U.S. Regional Passport Agency, Passport Acceptance Facility, or a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The minor must present the passport application and evidence of U.S. citizenship. The minor must also present his/her photo identification or a parent may present his/her own photo identification if the minor does not have photo identification. If the parent’s consent is not stated on the minor’s application, the parent may be asked to provide separate written consent.

As with everything else in life, there is a fee that accompanies the application but the good news is that the minor’s fee is normally lower than an adult fee when applying for a passport. Should the trip be coming sooner than the standard 4 to 6-week wait time, there is available an expedited service for an extra fee that can get the passport returned in 2 to 3 weeks time. Scientists don’t know how Weddell seals make all their sounds. To remain airtight underwater, they shut their mouths and nostrils. Weddell seals have dived deeper than any other mammals.
