Make sure you know who lives next door to you!
Monday, August 6th, 2007 by wwwWelcome to the age of technology. It’s a new world where you can find out all you desire about anyone, just by delving into cyberspace. This may sound a bit extreme, but you’d be surprised what you can find out with simple public records searches. For me, this process concerns history. I want to know a little about yours if you’re residing next door. After all, I have a few kids to watch after, and I need to know if you’re someone I should be wary of. Any parent on this planet should feel the same way. It’s a basic intuition. No one with a family wants to live next door to someone who has been previously convicted of lewd acts with minors, or attempted lewd acts. It’s just not safe. On the other hand, doing public records searches on your neighbours can be quite shocking. You’ll most likely discover that a few of them are convicted sexual predators. Especially if you research your area by a 10 mile radius or more. I did exactly this and found out that three lived near by.
Employers take advantage of public records searches all the time. They want to know if the individual they’re interviewing is a past criminal, or has been brought up on charges for theft or drugs abuse. Makes sense when you think about it. As a citizen, you can take advantage of online public records searches as well. Find out if that old man living three houses down is really as odd as folks claim he is. Knowing who lives near you and what they’re capable of grants you the upper hand in the situation. Live safe and be wary of your neighbours. The world isn’t what it used to be.

Personal Items in a Federal Prison Camp
Sunday, July 29th, 2007 by wwwYou can have your wedding ring but it has to be a plain band with no stones on it. Again, call the institution to be certain because rules change.
Important note:
Make sure you bring the items you want during check-in because once you are in, family members will be limited to what they can mail to you.
For example, I left my wedding ring behind to keep it from being lost or stolen. After a few weeks I decided that I would like to have it and inquired as to how I would get my ring. The camp counselor instructed me to fill out a form with detailed information on the specific item and submit the form for approval. After filling out the paper work I went back to the counselor to turn it in, to my surprise he tells me they discontinued the service. I took that as a sign from God to leave it home.
My comment:
When you self-surrender, there is a time in which they do paper work to get you checked in and they mail your street clothes back home as you trade them for a prison uniform.

Raise Your Kids Right
Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 by wwwTo Get What You Expect
Your parenting style is the most likely way you will impact how your child grows up. In being responsive to your children, you are simultaneously setting clear rules and limits for your children. This is crucial for you as a parent. You have likely based on this, identified the four main styles of parenting. There is no “right†or “wrong†parenting style and more to the point, there is more than one right way, though we all have prejudices on what we think works best based on our own life experience and values. Research, however, has charted the effects of the various parenting styles on children:
Do anything you want
Parents engaging in this style of parenting believe in the permissive or indulgent approach. They demand very little responsible behaviour and frequently avoid confrontation with their children. This style was more popular with parents in the 50s and 60s.
Children who are brought up in this type of emotional environment tend to be more creative but some research indicates they may develop behavioural problems as they grow up because they tend not to accept responsibility.
I don’t care what you do
Very rarely parents remain uninvolved in their children’s lives, which can in many cases, border on neglect.
Children who are brought up in this type of emotional environment tend to perform poorly at school and frequently engage in criminal behaviour.

Healthy Eating Habits : How You Can Easily Improve Your Health
Sunday, May 6th, 2007 by wwwhealthy eating lifestyle are the foundation for good overall health. Poor eating habits, or lacking a good diet, means that your body is not getting the amount of nutrients it needs keep you healthy, active, and disease free. Exercise is very important too, but good eating habits even make working out yield more noticeable results.
The best kind of eating habits you can develop are ones that allow you to enjoy what you eat (not a complete feel good diet however), but have a balanced and good diet that doesn’t leave you getting too much of one thing and not enough of another. One nutrient that is commonly out of proportion is carbohydrates. Typically people in modernized western cultures have feel good diets that lead to a higher than necessary carb intake, which leads to those carbs being broken down and stored as fat. Carbs are essentially complex sugars, which are burned for energy, unless they are unneeded. Unfortunately most of the foods that taste the best are loaded with carbs. However, they are not altogether bad, but eating too many carbs can cause you to gain weight. healthy eating lifestyle and a good diet plan cause your carb intake to be balanced so that excess carbs are not being stored as fat and you actually feel good instead of having a completely carefree feel good diet.
Although too many carbs can be a problem, fat and cholesterol are two other nutrients that are often out of proportion. Like carbs, your body needs a certain amount of fat and cholesterol, but healthy eating lifestyle will provide you with a normal quantity of fat and cholesterol as well. An excess of fat and cholesterol in your diet commonly leads to high blood pressure and can clog your arteries.
Although a good diet plan is going to be a little different for everyone, healthy eating lifestyle should incorporate foods from all the food groups: grains, meats, dairy, and fruits/vegetables. The classic food pyramid says that you should get about six servings of grains, about three servings of fruit, three servings of vegetables, two servings of meat, and two servings from the dairy group. There is also a designated ‘other’ group that consists of junk food and beverages, like soda, that have little positive nutritional value. The food pyramid indicates that foods from this ‘other’ group should be used sparingly, and perhaps should not be part of your good diet plan. However, your intake of food from the ‘other’ group will depend largely on your metabolism and your health goals.
Although it can be tough to stay disciplined, healthy eating lifestyle will repay you with improved health and energy. If you develop an exercise routine, your metabolism will speed up, allowing you to eat more without consequence, which makes it easier to maintain a balanced diet. After all, healthy eating lifestyle do not mean being a diet monk that avoids any pleasure from food. It simply means taking care of yourself by watching what you put in your body.

Identity Theft- Are You a Potential Victim?
Saturday, March 31st, 2007 by wwwWhen it comes to identity theft the object is always the same. The thief always uses your personal information, and identifying documents to empty your bank accounts, and charging items to your credit cards that you didn’t authorize. In the after math your going to be left with bad credit or, even worse, you end up filing for bankruptcy. Today there mainly four types of identity theft that take place.
Financial identity theft, with this type of identity theft, the perpetrator uses your credit card to make purchases or pay for services. The thief may also use your Social Security Number to apply for a credit card, gain employment, or get bank loans under your name.
A clever thief will steal your money using stolen checks. Try and imagine the amount of damage the perpetrator can do before you realize what’s going on? He can go shopping, rent a car or an apartment, pay for phone service, and more.
Business identity theft, is similar to the financial identity theft, but this time a business is victimized financially rather than a person. The theft might be perpetrated by a disgruntled employee that still has access to the businesses accounts. Or it simply be that a thief sees an opportunity to commit fraud and takes it.
The perpetrator may or may not have a relationship with the companies existing suppliers, but will use whatever means he can such as, the companies credit line, credit cards, online credit, for monetary or material gain.
Criminal identity theft , is where the perpetrator of this type of identity theft presents your Driver’s License or Social Security card, instead of his, when he is arrested. If he is charged and convicted, a criminal record will be generated under your name.
If he is ever set free, he can easily disappear and continue his criminal activities. If you fall victim to this type of identity theft, you will be left with a criminal record and a shattered reputation that may takes you several years to clear up.
Cloning, this type of identity theft, occurs when a perpetrator uses your personal information to establish a new identity. Perhaps he has a criminal record under his own name. Or he is simply trying to escape from people that might be looking for him, such as law enforcement authorities. This person could be an illegal immigrant or just someone that wants to leave behind debts, bad credit, or an unsavory employment record.
Whatever the case may be, the identity thief will use your information. If you’re lucky if he will start a new life and maintain a clean record. But the second he returns to his old ways it will be your reputation that get tarnished and not his. So take steps to learn how to protect yourself from identity theft.

Is Relationship Counseling Only For Last Ditch Attempts To Avoid Divorce?
Monday, March 26th, 2007 by wwwMarriage is in the news a lot lately, and the proponents of marriage keep emphasizing that it is not simply a human institution, but a holy institution generated by God.
The idea of relationship counseling was established as an accepted practice in the 1950s. The primary goal of relationship counseling is to maintain an unwavering married life for couples. These counselors believe that it is not right for a married couple to abandon their vows and forget the love that once had bound them together just because of some human weaknesses.
However, not all professionals agree that marriage advice gives lasting benefits and promotes change in individuals. In spite of its many advantages, some people still find some fault with this kind of psychological strategy.
The Advantages of Considering relationship counseling:
. relationship counseling helps you know you are not alone. Some couples, especially those who do not like “burdening” their friends and family with their problems, tend to think that they are the only couple who is experiencing their problem. After speaking with a marriage counselor, these couples can realize that they are not the only ones with an problem marriage, and can more readily deal with the problem.
. relationship counseling can help you understand your spouse better. When you understand him or her better, you will value your husband or wife more and you can learn how they work to help work on a solution to your problem.
The Disadvantages of Marriage Therapy:
. It is considered by some couple as a last-ditch measure before a divorce and therefore does not have much value. In fact, in almost 70% of couples in trouble, the wife is usually the one that has decided to end the marriage and they are planning to proceed with a divorce even before seeking the help of a counselor, or simply go “for the kids.”
. Sometimes, one partner wants the marriage to work and the other doesn’t. When one partner does not want to work on the problems, it can mean the death of the marriage. At that point, no amount of counseling will work, and the partner who wants to make the marriage work gets frustrated and angry.
With or without relationship counseling, couples need to learn how to solve their problems. relationship counseling can be a tool to help save a marriage, but tools must be used and appreciated to work. Counseling should not be relied upon exclusively to save an problem marriage.

Online LDS Dating Service : How Does Online Dating Work?
Wednesday, March 7th, 2007 by wwwWhy check out online LDS dating service sites?
In traditional LDS dating, you are limited to the social circle that you (or your friends and relatives) have. Online dating gives you almost limitless choices, resulting in you no longer being limited by your immediate circle of friends and acquaintances.
The ability to easily access profiles from a wide variety of potential dates is what gives online dating the edge. Online sites have hundreds of profiles for a possible match. Clicking on someone that you have an interest on is so easy.
Both traditional and online dating have their dangers, although dating traditionally, usually, has fewer risks. But you can never be too sure. Most reputable LDS dating services are safe. They are very particular on this area, enforcing among others, a Code of Ethics among members, certification that a member is single, and background check on criminal record. Check whether the site has safety nets.
Finding a good potential mate is a lot easier with online dating since most sites have personality profiles, personality tests, profile blurbs, and image uploads. Some sites also offer the capability of uploading audio and video clips.
Always take advantage of these opportunities to improve your own ad. Other prospective matches will be more interested in your ad if you have video or audio clips-they seem more personal than words on a screen. Personal ads with images have a response of 80%, but ads with audio or video clips (or both) have a 97% response rate. Unlike traditional dating, you get a sense of the person almost immediately. You can sense someone’s personality without the hassle of meeting them.
Of course, online LDS dating won’t guarantee you a head start in dating and romance. After all, like any forms of dating, online dating takes practice and patience. Being online does not mean everyone will be buzzing around you.
When using a LDS online dating service - just like with traditional dating - you must remember to be safe and be smart. Choose your dating sites wisely. The safest sites are those that charge a monthly subscription fee for their members. These sites charge for two main reasons. The first reason is to discourage those fly-by-night dangerous people who lurk the sites to find someone to take advantage of. The second reason is to make sure that the dating sites have funds to not only to keep the website functional, but also to be able to do background checks and other options to keep their members safe.
If you are tired of the blind dates and waiting for someone at church to ask you out, try online dating. You may find the love of your life!

Online Dating World: It Isn’t As Scary As You Might Think
Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 by wwwDaytime TV is chock full of examples of couples who met in the internet dating world. We usually see them when they are suing for unpaid loans, or child support, or confronting a cheating spouse, or trying to find a 16-year-old girl who ran away with someone from MySpace. However, the problems these couples face are as old as time. The only new part is the way they met-over the Internet.
Online dating services (such as Match.com or eHarmony.com) have been in business almost since the beginning of the Internet age. These sites offer an excellent forum to not only meet people for romantic purposes, but also just to make new friends or create social networks.
There are numerous online dating services available, catering to people of all ages, interests, demographics and various walks of life.
The numbers of people who are participating in online dating services are on the rise. A recent study showed that approximately 1 out of 5 Americans have or do now participate in some form of an online dating service. More than ever before, young people are using the Internet as their main route to meet people. They see nothing shameful about this way of socializing. Plus, the anonymity that the online dating world provides can be appealing.
After all, participants of online dating services don’t have to meet the individuals they communicate with in person until they’ve achieved some level of trust and comfort with the other person. In the end, a participant in the online dating world always has the choice to meet or not to meet.
