If you suffer form very painful headaches and have done so since you were young, the chances are you may suffer from migraines which are often experienced by other members of a family group. Once the episode has finished, the victim will still require rest as they will probably feel very tired.

Some people are more fortunate than others and may only have a couple of attacks per year whilst others have one or more every month. There is a condition that causes an inflammation of blood vessels in the brain and it is possible that people who suffer have sensitivity in this area. Another symptom that is not consistent is those people that know when they are going to have an attack anything up to 30 minutes before it happens; this sensation is called migraine with aura owing to the type of feeling they experience. The warning signs may include:

*Queasiness *Blinking or zigzagging lights *Sense of smell and taste is affected *Lack of sensation in victim’s face

other symptoms exist but these appear to be the most common. Migraine without aura however, is the most prevalent type and may take place only in one area of the head; this condition can escalate and is made worse by any movement, loud noises and bright lights which can cause the person to vomit.

The current belief is that the blood vessels close to the brain might contract, increasing pressure which may cause the migraine with aura experience. Some suggest that it is the rapid expansion after this narrowing that causes the awful headaches; however, all suffers say the attack knocks them out and they are unable to carry out even the most simple of daily tasks. The range of possible triggers that create an attack is huge; the most common are listed below:

*Weather *Certain foods *Being at great height *Certain groups of drink *Strong bright lights *Lack of sleep or food *Tension

It is for a person to keep a check to see if they have a pattern by which they can avoid situations that could lead to an attack.

Is My Computer Really Ready For The Trash Can?

I was having an interesting conversation with a fellow Pc repairer the other day about the benefits of updating or spending time doing a computer repair on an older Pc.

Interestingly this technician’s viewpoint was totally opposed to my own as he would happily recommend a client to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a new PC rather than spending hundreds of dollars repairing an older computer.

Now taken in isolation I also would consider this very good advice as well, as throwing money at old hardware can be a lost cause. But that said there are wide number of variables that should be considered before recommending this course of action.

On the money front whilst the cost of new hardware has come down a lot of modern systems are massively overkill for their users, and there is also the consideration of the amount of time somebody has spent loading all the software and updating drivers etc.

Sure we can take away the pain of the update by doing the data transfer for them but aren’t we already thinking along the wrong lines already. As a professional should we be taking the consultative approach here?

A majority of clients that I come across have simply never considered the need for ongoing Pc maintenance and some of them have had such slow systems that even when they are less than a year old they are considering getting rid of them.

This is not only bad for their pockets but is also dumping rubbish into the environment far sooner than is really necessary.

So is it really good advice to advise a client to renew as opposed to repair, well in my opinion first of all you need to ask how old the Pc is and what it is being used for. This will help you give the client best advice.

Secondly is their really something wrong with the Pc or does the client just need a little help and understanding how to keep it running smoothly.

And thirdly, is there enough computer memory in the Pc to make it run efficiently. Chances are if it has been bought on a budget then the answer is almost certainly a big NO.

In a majority of cases a little Pc maintenance goes a long way and if the client is interested you can show them a few tips and tricks to keep it running nice and smoothly themselves in the future.

And also a computer memory upgrade goes a long way as well and is not expensive. If it’s an older computer but is still meeting the clients needs then you can always use used computer components instead to save the customer some money.

Ok, as business people this will not make us rich…..or will it? I would much more prefer to help a client and have a happy client who feels confident to refer friends and relatives on an on going basis than just “grow a job” beyond where it needs to be, which if the press is to be believed happens far too often than it really should.

Is it possible for a rich nation such as America to face a possible food shortage in the future?

The answer to this is yes.

The NY Sun recently ran a story about the surfacing of some food shortages in some areas of the US. It appears that this may be a precursor of what is to come. How can this happen? The answer is in the fact that there are several things that contribute to shortages in whole.

For the most part there has always been enough food for everyone on the planet; this is beginning to change however. The world as a whole is finding itself coming close to maximum capacity and our commodities are becoming more difficult to obtain. Oil is one of the largest commodities we are having difficulty coming by easily. It isn’t that we are out of oil, but that the world has tapped out most of the easily accessible oil fields. We have much more oil it is just more expensive than its worth to extract it which puts it out of reach to us. Gas prices will likely reach $6.00 per gallon in 2009.

The same situation applies to ore mines. There is only so much ore that we are able to mine even if there is more ore available; if it is not economically feasible to mine it we cannot obtain it. Basically this means that there is just so much supply available at affordable prices. The higher the price the fewer people that can afford it and the more supply there will be available just beyond reach.

Food is included in this variable. Despite the land available around the world there is only so much food available. Previously the US had a very strong currency; however, this is changing today. The value of the US dollar has been spiraling downward over the last few years. Other countries are now able to out bid the United States for the commodities we need. China is leading the world in outbidding for precious commodities.

The decline of the US dollar will continue as the US continues to print money which results in the value plummeting. With the value of currency declining, the US may find itself with a lessened ability to be the top bidder and may be unable to obtain its resources.

The scenario given above regarding regional food shortage is just the beginning of a number of very shocking changes for America. As a country we have overspent and mismanaged our budget for decades and now it is time to face reality.
