Advice On Building A Computer
Sunday, September 30th, 2007 by wwwYou may be wondering whether you should buy a PC or build your own computer from scratch and add your own computer accessories. Many people opt for the latter but there are some things to consider when making the decision. Fortunately, I have experienced both choosing to buy outright or choosing to build a computer independently. There are pros and cons to each.
First of all, my brother-in-law was the one who suggested that we try the do-it-yourself method. When he said, Just build your own computer, we didn’t know that he really meant that he was going to do it for us. We appreciated the help but we didn’t learn very much about the process.
The major obstacle in the build your own computer approach is that you are often dependent on a technologically savvy friend or relative to do the work for you. This means that you are dependent on his ability to devote time and effort to your cause. Sometimes there is a lot of waiting involved when you need help with such a project. Hopefully this individual is patient enough to teach you how to build your own computer in the process.
The other obstacle we faced with the do it yourself method was the software. Many manufacturers supply crucial software with the personal computer. When you build your own computer you have to buy the software separately. This can offset the savings you normally see when you choose to create your own PC. There is no point in saving hundreds of dollars by building a PC on your own if you have to spend hundreds in essential software.
The third problem was the lack of a warranty included with the computer, the individual computer accessory had one but obviously not the whole PC. Normally when you purchase a PC you have a nice, solid warranty to back you up if things go wrong. Unfortunately when you build your own computer you may have a warranty on one or two parts but you really are not covered in case of a malfunction. Hopefully, you never need to use the warranty but it is a great thing to have for peace of mind.
We were happy with the PC that my brother-in-law built for us. We used the machine for seven years with only three crashes throughout the entire time. Each crash was caused by viruses so I really can’t complain about the great computer that we enjoyed for such a long time. Adding some high spec PC accessories really helped too.
Nevertheless, we opted to buy a new PC this time around. My brother-in-law is extremely busy with other projects and we never learned the steps to creating a system on our own. We are happy with our new machine but deep down inside I really wish that we would have looked into doing it ourselves. One thing you need when you build your own computer is confidence. Those who lack it, buy new.

Gift Shopping Online To Save You Money
Sunday, September 30th, 2007 by wwwWow, I tell you the world of shopping definitely has changed drastically in the last decade. I’m proud to say that I do most of mine on the internet. This just makes sense. Why not do all sorts of Online shopping and browsing for your own needs if you can? All you need handy is your personal computer.
As long as you have Internet access, you’re set. It’s a sweet and incomparable deal. And I don’t care what it is you’re searching for. The truth is if it actually exists, then it’s got to be online. Okay, if it’s legal and it exists. I guess I should specify that. Maybe not all black market products are found in cyberspace.
I was just doing some shopping online this morning. I wanted to pick up something for my wife. You know, just one of those “for the heck of it” items. Women love that kind of stuff. Am I wrong? So basically if you search within the realm of clothes, shoes, jewelry and cosmetics, you’re set. Yeah, those are some words of infinite wisdom right there. Trust me fellows. Anyway, I prefer Online Gift Shopping just because it doesn’t interrupt my busy day. I can just take a five minute break from work, pull up my Google search engine, and then proceed with the quick browsing.
In no time at all, I have made my selection and paid with a bank card or PayPal. It’s really that simple. A receipt is typically sent to your email inbox and you can print it out just to be safe. Now, compare this discount shopping online to the old method. Who wants to head out to the local shopping malls? I know all of you guys hear me on this one. We men generally hate the mall.
First you have to drive all the way over there, search endlessly for a parking space, and then grapple with all the dense crowds of people. That is an utter pain in the butt. There’s just no two ways about it. And who’s to say that they’ll even carry what you’re searching for? With Online Gift Shopping you literally have the world at your fingertips. There’s no topping that.
So, are you up for some Online Gift Shopping? This is the best way to knock out all that Christmas stuff before the holiday season hits. Imagine all the cash you’ll save by Online Gift Shopping. The discounts found in cyberspace are incomparable to those found in local stores and malls. I’m talking about as much as 50 percent off.

A Guide To Hunting And Fishing
Sunday, September 30th, 2007 by wwwThe great outdoors can be so relaxing. Please don’t disagree if you’ve never given it a go. You definitely need to experience Mother Nature before dismissing it as bothersome or annoying. It’s imperative to get the full-on dose at the right time of year. Of course the right season varies from person to person.
For me it’s fall, but for others it could be spring or winter time. Yes, I did mention winter time. Although it may be chilly, you can appreciate the fact that mosquitoes and ticks won’t eat you alive like they will in the summer. So then there’s camping, hunting and fishing. These are the epitome of outdoor activities. Especially if you’re heading up through the woods. It’s not all about nature hikes and rock climbing.
The entire time I grew up in the rural area of Iowa, my father was an officer of hunting and fishing. A game warden for short. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Iowa has no rural area in particular; the entire state is rural. In fact, it’s one gargantuan corn field. This is what a buddy of mine thought anyway. Once I moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, folks thought I was from the back woods. My buddy actually asked me if we were the only house in Iowa. Wow, are people ever naive! Iowa is a state; not a corn field. Anyway, I certainly received my dose of hunting and fishing while living in the heartland.
Anything from deer hunting with a shotgun, to bass fishing on the Mississippi, to turkey hunting with a long bow. I was able to experience a range of hunting and fishing activities. However, I did grow tired of the hunting part. These days I no longer care to sit quietly in a tree stand and wait for a massive buck to stroll past. Fishing on the other hand is still outstanding. I think it’s the fresh trout that I love so much.
Definitely take the time to learn all about camping, hunting and fishing before tackling them on your own. Find out what supplies are imperative and what seasons will work best. And always remember that with hunting and fishing comes responsibilities. You can’t simply run out in the woods and start gunning down deer like it’s no big thing. There are rules to this sport. Follow them respectfully and you’ll have a great time.

My Favorite Beach Vacations
Saturday, September 29th, 2007 by wwwAre you dreaming of summer breezes, cocktails at sunset, and time to catch up on your reading? If so, you might just be ready to take a few beach vacations to recharge your batteries. The great news about beach vacations is that you don’t have to spend a lot to have a great, relaxing time on the shore. There are beaches everywhere you look, and you just have to find the time to get there. Even if you don’t want a long trip, you can find a short weekend getaway near your home.
If you live in the northeast, you can take a beach vacation closer to home than you may think. Virginia Beach is a popular getaway, and there are beaches in Rhode Island, Maine, and New Jersey. No matter where you live, there is an option you may not have even known about. If you live in the west, you may already know where the best beaches are. If you live in Florida, chances are there is a beach within an hour of where you live. No matter what part of the country you live in, a search online should find you some great options for beach vacations.
You can call a travel agent to arrange beach vacations, or you can create your own package. If you are good with using the Internet, you can use all the discount sites to find the best deals on airfare, if you need it, and hotel specials. You may even run across a package deal for beach vacations that you simply cannot pass up. If you go during non-peak times, you will find you will save a lot of money on your trip.
Once you have decided which one of the many beach vacation destinations you have found will be the best for you, book it and start planning. Even though you may not have to go very far from home, you still have to make arrangements for your pets, if you have any, and find someone to keep an eye on your home. You also have to pack, which isn’t nearly as daunting as you may think it will be. Making a list is always helpful. If your entire family is going, make sure each person makes their own list, that way nothing is left behind.
Some special items you need for beach vacations that you might not need elsewhere are also essential. Make sure you have some beach toys for the kids, plenty of towels, and extra sunscreen. If you are going to a saltwater beach, remember that saltwater can be hard on your hair. Make sure you pack good conditioner for your hair, and good lotion for your skin. You should also remember to take a good book, a beach umbrella, and of course, your sunglasses.

Tips on Backyard Fixes
Saturday, September 29th, 2007 by wwwIf you own your own house then you are very familer with backyard landscaping and design. In fact you might even be pretty good at it by now. I know I am becoming a yard maintenance king.
There are many things you will want to consider when landscaping your yard.
Backyard landscape design doesn’t have to be hard work, and it doesn’t have to empty out your bank account either. Many ideas for a low maintenance, private, multipurpose backyard landscape design can be found from diverse sources like the internet, at the library, or at a local home and garden store. Not that you have to use someone else’s landscaping design ideas, in fact, it’s probably a better idea in the long run to come up with your own design. You’ve undoubtedly been keeping mental notes on what you would like do with your backyard, which is a great place to start. Get exactly what you want and within your predetermined budget.
No two yards are alike, which is why you’ll want to take into consideration all the different purposes your new area will serve. All or part of the backyard can be private from the neighbors and the outside world. Vine filled lattices or a private garden within the backyard could set off a concealed area for meditation, reached by a stone path that travels in a circular direction toward another garden filled with cool colored flowers that fill your senses with fragrant blooms.
Backyard landscape designs can include rock gardens, bird or butterfly gardens, activity areas, walking paths, and boundaries for privacy and animal control (like deer) without traditional fencing. Privacy and safety concerns can also be resolved by giving a swimming pool area a great deal of privacy with a fully functional landscape design that prevents the neighbors and strangers from constantly looking in.
Backyard landscape design doesn’t have to be complicated, but there are basic elements that need to be considered. Your backyard is your blank canvas waiting for you to apply an artful touch, which will determine the beauty of the resulting picture to the viewer’s eye. Form, texture, line, rhythm and proportion all come together to draw the viewer’s eyes smoothly across the landscape. You don’t have to be an artist either, but a bit of creativity wouldn’t hurt! Go to Home and Garden TV’s website at www.hgtv.com or www.buzzle.com for lots of great do-it-yourself backyard landscape designs and tips on how to create a balanced consistent arrangement suitable for your part of the country and your tastes. Also, don’t forget the abundance of styles of backyard patio furniture to blend in with your new backyard landscape design!
