The Different Types of Corrective Eye Surgery
Saturday, March 31st, 2007 by wwwLasik surgery is the most popular type of corrective eye surgery, that is being performed, but its not the only type of eye surgery being offered. There are several types of corrective eye surgeries being preformed that are laser surgeries, but they each of them differs slightly, and its these slight difference that determine the success of your surgery.
Lasek, is very similar to Lasik, but this type of eye surgery is often performed on people that have thin corneas, who would other wise make poor candidates for Lasik eye surgery. With Lasek eye surgery, the outer layer of the cornea is removed, and alcohol is used to loosen the flap, so the risk of damaging the cornea is not that great. This type of corrective surgery is newer and is being used to correct astigmatism, nearsightedness and farsightedness.
Most people tend to experience a longer recovery after the Lasek surgery has been preformed. Patients that have Lasik eye surgery preformed are often able to see well the very next day, but when Lasek surgery is preformed it often takes patients up to two weeks to heal. The longer recovery times is the biggest drawback to having this type of surgery preformed, because patients need to take more time off from work to recover.
Epi-Lasik, with this type of surgery no blade or alcohol is used to cut through the cornea, instead a plastic separator is used to separate the epithelial sheet from the eye. The same excimer laser that is used when Lasik surgery is used in Epi-Lasik surgery to reshape the corneal tissue. After this type of corrective eye surgery is preformed, a special contact lens is used to keep the epithelial flap in the correct position until it reattaches itself. People that experience this type of surgery, usually can see well enough to drive after one week, but it might take up to six months to achive the final results.
Bladeless LASIK Also very similar to regular Lasik eye surgery except that no blade is used to create the flap. Instead another laser is used. IntraLase, the technology used to create the flap may be safer than regular Lasik eye surgery which uses a bladed instrument to create the flap. Although complications are relatively rare, an oscillating blade presents more opportunity for an accident to occur.
With PRK corrective eye surgery, no flap is made in the cornea at all. Instead, the surgeon skips right to the next step and uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea. If you’re nearsighted, the surgeon will attempt to flatten the cornea, which is too steep. If you’re farsighted, the surgeon will attempt to make the cornea steeper.
When your considering laser eye surgery, get all the facts before you make an informed decision. Although the success rates for these types of eye surgeries are impressive, but no corrective eye surgery is one hundred percent safe or successful.

Some Things to Consider Before You Purchase a GPS Tracking System
Saturday, March 31st, 2007 by wwwIn today’s business world, a companies equipment and vehicles are a very important part of running a business. Companies are starting to keep track of their things by using GPS tracking systems. If you’re thinking about purchasing GPS systems, here are somethings you need to consider before you go out and buy one.
In most cases, with GPS tracking systems their is not a one time purchasing fee. There is a monthly service that is usually required to maintain the GPS tracking system. So before run out and purchase a system, you need to make sure that your budget includes the cost of the monthly service fees, upgrades, repairs, and routine maintenance all fall into the overall price of the system you buying.
Before you invest in a GPS tracking system, you need to decide if there is an alternative option available to a GPS tracking system, that will do the same job without a monthly service fee. Lo jack is a popular alternative tracking system. This systems is a lot simpler than their GPS counterparts, because it only requires two devices, a transponder and a retriever. Systems such as, Lo jack are great when it comes to simply locating a lost vehicle, but it will not record where the vehicle has been.
When you get down to the nuts and bolts, it all depends on your companies needs, with a GPS system in place you can track the company vehicle, and monitor the verbal communication that is taking place in the car. The GPS system that has a good surveillance system in place, might be a good idea if you or your employees frequently have to go into areas that have a high crime rate. Plus most GPS systems include roadside and mechanical assistance.
Remember that a GPS tracking system is only going to be as good as the support that it has backing it. When you do decide on a system, make sure that you research the quality of its support. You should ask question like, have the employees been professionally trained? Is the companies call center and help that they provide efficient? Do they have a seamless communication system in place that allows them to communicate with emergency institutions? Dose the company have an established relationship with the various police stations in your area. These are just a few of the things that you need to consider before you go out and purchase a GPS system. Making sure that you ask the right questions, and do the necessary research are an important part of any investment.

How to Keep Your Kids Busy Playing With Pasta
Saturday, March 31st, 2007 by wwwKids love to create things out of pasta and what’s great about it is that it can be used to create a variety of different art projects. So the next time your out shopping at your local supper market be sure to grab a few bags of pasta. Here are a few pasta project that you can do with you kids to get them started.
Try making a photo frame. For this project your going to want to use either shell or bow pasta. So check the cupboard. next your going to need a thick piece of cardboard, preferable white this way you will be able to add any colors that you want. Your picture frame can be either square or circular, this is a personal preference so I will leave the decision up to you.
The first step is going to be to cut out the frame, make sure that you cut the frame so that it is the actual size that you want it to be when you are finished. The next step of this project is to make a cut out in the middle of the cardboard to fit the photo that you are going to put in there. Next you need to decide if you are going to use food coloring or spray paint to color the pasta, both look great. Color is a personal preference so once again I going to leave this decision up to you. These types of picture frame look great on house appliances. To do this just glue or tape some magnetics to the back of the frame and your ready to stick your new picture frame up on the fridge.
Macaroni noodles or penne pasta is great when it comes to making bracelets and necklaces. For this project you are going to need some fishing line. The reason I suggest fishing line, is because its strong, durable and its not likely to break any time soon. You can use food coloring or spray paint to color the pasta. Once the pasta has dried string it through the fishing line, and that’s all there is to it, you’ve just made your child a bracelet or a necklace. Yes its that easy.
These are just a few of the things you can teach your children to do using pasta. Arts and crafts are a great teaching tool for kids. Art and crafts projects allow children to open up their minds, and this plays an important role in the cognitive development of children.

Identity Theft- Are You a Potential Victim?
Saturday, March 31st, 2007 by wwwWhen it comes to identity theft the object is always the same. The thief always uses your personal information, and identifying documents to empty your bank accounts, and charging items to your credit cards that you didn’t authorize. In the after math your going to be left with bad credit or, even worse, you end up filing for bankruptcy. Today there mainly four types of identity theft that take place.
Financial identity theft, with this type of identity theft, the perpetrator uses your credit card to make purchases or pay for services. The thief may also use your Social Security Number to apply for a credit card, gain employment, or get bank loans under your name.
A clever thief will steal your money using stolen checks. Try and imagine the amount of damage the perpetrator can do before you realize what’s going on? He can go shopping, rent a car or an apartment, pay for phone service, and more.
Business identity theft, is similar to the financial identity theft, but this time a business is victimized financially rather than a person. The theft might be perpetrated by a disgruntled employee that still has access to the businesses accounts. Or it simply be that a thief sees an opportunity to commit fraud and takes it.
The perpetrator may or may not have a relationship with the companies existing suppliers, but will use whatever means he can such as, the companies credit line, credit cards, online credit, for monetary or material gain.
Criminal identity theft , is where the perpetrator of this type of identity theft presents your Driver’s License or Social Security card, instead of his, when he is arrested. If he is charged and convicted, a criminal record will be generated under your name.
If he is ever set free, he can easily disappear and continue his criminal activities. If you fall victim to this type of identity theft, you will be left with a criminal record and a shattered reputation that may takes you several years to clear up.
Cloning, this type of identity theft, occurs when a perpetrator uses your personal information to establish a new identity. Perhaps he has a criminal record under his own name. Or he is simply trying to escape from people that might be looking for him, such as law enforcement authorities. This person could be an illegal immigrant or just someone that wants to leave behind debts, bad credit, or an unsavory employment record.
Whatever the case may be, the identity thief will use your information. If you’re lucky if he will start a new life and maintain a clean record. But the second he returns to his old ways it will be your reputation that get tarnished and not his. So take steps to learn how to protect yourself from identity theft.
