Dog Collar and GPS

Thursday, December 28th, 2006 by www

GPS Tracking Devices : This security is brought to you by the “Geographic Positioning System”, that is, GPS. It is an electronic system that can report the location of a GPS tracking device anywhere on earth. The earth-bound GPS tracking device in your dog’s collar can report its position to a listening space-bound satellite by emitting RF signals that can be detected by GPS tracking satellites. The satellite and supporting systems then use the report to locate the device on a human readable map.

That’s how you’ll find your dog when its lost. At the time your dog collar is activated, you are given an 800 number that you must call if you discover your dog is lost. The operator queries the satellite which then reports back to the operator the location of your dog. The operator should be able to tell you where it is in relation to a road map.

Imagine a World Without Wires: BlueTooth Technology

Thursday, December 28th, 2006 by www

You’ve no doubt started to hear a lot about blue tooth and for good reason. Thanks to its technology, users of bluetooth wireless technology can enjoy low bandwidth benefits through their wireless connections. With its short-range, low power technology, users can easily network without wires. By being able to send and receive data at up to 720kbs, bluetooth customers can use radio waves to communicate with each other, or their Bluetooth enabled devices.

Imagine a world without wires.

Blue tooth Specs
The specifications for bluetooth devices allows for different classes of radio transmission ranges. These ranges can reach up to about 300 feet by boosting the radio power. This technology isn’t limited to line of sight as the waves it utilizes are directional waves, which are capable of transmitting through various obstructions.

Industry Standard
bluetooth is quickly becoming the standard as far as wireless communication is concerned. The real beauty of bluetooth wireless technology is the fact that it goes far beyond the most commonly recognized uses and connects all manner of devices. Not only cell phones, but also computers, digital cameras, PDAs, laptops, and any number of other digital devices. The specifications for bluetooth are defined as a radio system that has a ’stack’ of protocols, layers, and profiles. The highest layer is the actual application with lower layer being the radio.

Wireless technology such as that offered by bluetooth wireless technology is in a position to completely revolutionize our ability to be connected and share information by allowing us to go wireless and eliminating the need for strings.

Blue Tooth eliminates the need for cables and wires while providing connectivity on a level we’ve never experienced before. This low cost solution links computers, cell phones, and any manner of other bluetooth enabled devices quickly and easily.

Blue tooth is also a sturdy link, which will allow you to go about business as usual rather than worry that a connection is going to be impaired because of its wireless nature. Bluetooth has shown none of the ordinary weaknesses of other wireless devices to interference and constant interruption by other devices operating on the same frequencies.

Another benefit to bluetooth is that it operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, which allows it to be license free and widely available throughout the world. No matter where you are, it is quite likely that your bluetooth device will work.

Security is another matter that is often weak with electronic devices, particularly those with wireless connections. Blue tooth offers advanced mechanisms to ensure your security and that of your information. It is very difficult for your data to be compromised or your conversations heard with Bluetooth.

Did You Know:

- Not surprisingly technology leaders around the world such as Nokia, Ericsson and IBM are involved with Bluetooth along with thousands of other organizations, who utilize their expertise to further the number of devices that are Bluetooth enabled.
- Well over 250 million bluetooth enabled devices, including computers, headsets and printers are shipped out annually.
- The technology known as Bluetooth earned its name from the Danish King Harald Bluetooth Blaatand, who is credited with unifying Norway and Denmark. When Bluetooth technology was created, it too had the aim of unifying the computing and telecom industries.

Another great feature of bluetooth is its ability to optimize its power consumption. The radio feature is very power friendly and the device itself only consumes a minimal amount of power that it ‘borrows’ from a cell phone.

Tips for Safe Travel to India

Thursday, December 28th, 2006 by www

India, the world’s largest democratic republic, has a very diverse population, geography and climate. This wide diversity has lead to India’s becoming such a popular travel destination. While it may appeal to those seeking adventure, there are certain risks that must be considered and precautions taken to guarantee that you have a safe journey.

U.S. citizens are required to possess a valid passport and visa to enter and exit India for any purpose. You can obtain visas at an Indian Embassy or Consulate prior to entering the country.

If you plan to stay a month or longer or will be traveling to remote areas, be sure to register with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Report a lost or stolen passport immediately.

Some terrorist groups are active in India. According to the U.S. Department of State, there have been occasional terrorist bombing incidents in various parts of India in recent years. These bomb blasts have occurred in public places as well as on public transportation, such as trains and buses, in markets and in other public areas, resulting in deaths or injuries.

Demonstrations can occur or escalate spontaneously, posing risks to travelers’ personal safety and disrupting transportation systems and city services. You should avoid demonstrations and rallies as they have the potential for violence, especially immediately preceding and following elections.

Petty crime, especially theft of personal property, is common, particularly on trains or buses throughout the country. Pickpockets can be very adept, and women have reported having their bags snatched, purse-straps cut or the bottom of their purses slit without their knowledge.

Theft of U.S. passports is common, particularly in major tourist areas and on overnight trains. If you travel by train, be sure to lock your sleeping compartment and take valuables with you when you leave your berth.

Take advantage of free transportation by your hotel if they offer it. If you must travel by taxi, use a taxi service with an office inside the airport. Ask for the taxi’s registration number and compare it to the number on the vehicle before getting in. Be alert for scam artists who offer cheap transportation.

Consult with your medical insurance company prior to traveling to confirm whether your policy applies overseas and whether it will cover emergency expenses such as a medical evacuation. An emergency evacuation can cost tens of thousands of dollars. You can avoid such an expense with a short-term policy that costs very little.

Travel by road in India is dangerous. A number of U.S. citizens have suffered fatal traffic accidents in recent years. Travel at night is particularly hazardous.

In order to drive in India, you have either a valid Indian drivers’ license or a valid international drivers’ license. Because of difficult road and traffic conditions, consider hiring a professional driver.

While the above list of tips may paint a picture of India that is quite negative, the intention is not for you to desist but, rather, prepare adequately. Few experiences can be as rewarding as travel to India. However, there are risks that must be considered so that your trip is, in fact, a safe one.

To begin your preparation, you will need both a United States Passport and a visa to India to enter.

The Whole Truth About Microcaps

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006 by www

Most investors think of the major stock exchanges when trading stocks comes to mind. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ), and the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) are among those that first come to mind. Often overlooked by the mainstream media, penny stocks are a low ticket security for companies that are valued at under five hundred million dollars and often trade in low volumes. These stocks also trade on ‘Over the Counter’ exchanges such as the OTCBB or Pink Sheets.

The very fact that microcaps trade at such low volumes increases the risks involved in investing in them. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) strongly suggests traders of microcaps to remember that these stocks typically trade with very low volumes on average. This makes finding buyers when you want to sell, and sellers when you want to buy more difficult. As a result, you may not get the stock at the price you want. This can result in buying too high

Despite the risks involved, microcaps are often attractive investments to investors for various reasons. If you are new to investing and looking for the chance to return a high yield for a relatively low investment you are likely to come across some penny stocks. The attraction often lies in the fact that at such low prices any changes are often measured by the hundreds of percent this means that your investment can literally double in one or two days time.

On the other hand, the price of small caps can drop just as drastically and equally fast. Those who are inexperienced investors would do well to avoid microcaps until they have a better understanding of how things work. It is also important to note that because of the relatively low ‘worth’ of the companies that are often listed on the OTCBB are often considered questionable investments. Some of these companies have such a limited financial history that no accurate determination of their actual value can be made. Many of these companies are either very new or dangerously close to bankruptcy.

There is also a strong potential for fraud with some buyers artificially ‘enhancing’ or driving the costs by buying large amounts of shares and raising the perceived value of essentially worthless stocks. Most traders who fall for this lose many when it comes time to sell.

A common definition for microcaps is any stock that trades below $5.00 per share.

Penny stocks are not for everyone. Consider speaking to a financial advisor to see if trading microcaps fits in with your risk tolerance.

It is important to remember that not all of these companies are frauds and many of them have a great deal of potential. Some are new businesses that are working hard towards their goal of earning a spot on the larger exchanges. Do your research in order to decrease your risks of landing with a declining or dishonest company. Often, most investors are often convinced that one good investment can make them a nice tidy profit. While this is true it is better to invest in a company that is showing slow and steady growth than one you are hoping will sky rocket over night. Take the time and do your research rather than gambling with your investment.

Travel to China Safely

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006 by www

China attracts millions of tourist each year that go to visit such ancient attractions as The Great Wall, Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses and the Yangtze River as well as enjoy spectacular shows and exquisite cuisine in the thriving cities of Beijing and Shanghai.

Travel to China, as is the case with any destination, comes with certain risks and challenges. To minimize these risks and to increase your chances of a safe and rewarding trip, take note of the following tips.

Over 1,200 cities and areas in China are open to visitors without special travel permits, including most major scenic and historical sites. However, you should be aware that Chinese regulations strictly prohibit travel in “closed” areas without special permission. Check to make sure you won’t be entering a restricted area. If you have plans to visit a “closed” area, obtain permission from the appropriate authorities.

Get your passport and China travel visa if you don’t already have them. Be sure to start the process early. Passports usually take 6 weeks or more to process. Make a couple of copies of your passport data page. Take one with you but keep it separate from your passport. Leave the other with a friend or relative. Take extra copies of your passport photos in case your passport is lost or stolen.

If you plan to stay a month or longer, register at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate general. They provide a variety of services to U.S. citizens. Keep the location and telephone number with you at all times.

China has a low crime rate; however crime has increased in the past few years, principally in the major cities. U.S. citizens and other foreigners have seldom been victims of violent crime. However, always use good common sense to avoid putting yourself at risk unnecessarily.

Exercise caution and carefully obey local laws. Penalties for breaking the law can be more severe than in the United States for similar offenses. Persons violating the law, even unknowingly, may be expelled, arrested or imprisoned.

If you plan to do business in China, be vigilant in investigating the companies you plan to work with to ensure they are reputable or to learn whether a prior history of disputes exists.

Tourist travel in China can be extremely strenuous and may be especially debilitating to someone in poor health. Tours often involve walking long distances and up steep hills. All, especially those with a history of coronary/pulmonary problems, should have a complete medical checkup before making final travel plans. It is very important to schedule rest periods during your touring activities.

SOS International, Ltd., operates clinics and provides medical evacuation and medical escort services in several Chinese cities. For medical emergencies anywhere in mainland China, Americans can call the SOS International, Ltd., 24-hour “Alarm Center” in Beijing at (86-10) 64629100 or in Shanghai at (86-21) 62950099 for advice and referrals to local facilities. SOS International Alarm Centers can also be contacted in Hong Kong at (852) 24289900 and in the United States at (1-800) 523-6586.

Travelers are encouraged to travel to China with both health insurance and medical evacuation insurance (often included in so-called “travel” insurance and provided as part of a tour group package).

Don’t forget to verify your return flight 72 hours before the departure date. International flights departing China are routinely overbooked. If you don’t verify your flight, you could have your name stricken from the list of passengers. If this results in your remaining in China beyond the date on your visa, you could be fined or, even, detained.

Remember, if you plan to travel to China you need to get your U.S. Passport and China travel visa.

Web Phone Calls Have You Heard of it?

Sunday, December 24th, 2006 by www

VOIP - Ever since the Internet entered our lives, there have been tremendous changes in the way in which we communicate. For one thing, we use e-mail communication to instantaneously get our messages to others across the globe, no matter which part of the world they happen to be in. And for another, we do a whole lot more on the Internet than we ever imagined possible. But if you stopped to think about it, the Internet essentially hinges on what once was a different kind of communication. This is nothing but the plain and simple telephone call. What used to transmit voice calls over wires now transmits data information over the same thing. Slowly but steadily the wires too are disappearing to give rise to what has come to be known as VOIP online phone calls.

Are you an Avid Stock Trading Capitalist

Sunday, December 24th, 2006 by www

Stock Trading Broker : It seems like so many individuals are diving into the stocks and real estate markets these days. Not that it’s a bad thing? It simply seems to be getting more common. Personally I thing stocks and real estate are wise investments if you know what you are doing. Many people have made millions in the past by going this route. However, several of us, or should I say lots of us, are not educated when it comes to stocks, bonds, real estate and such. This is why some reading and learning may be in order before we take that plunge into investment-land. One wonderful nuance to the stocks game these days is online stock market user. This was certainly not around when our parents were young. You’ve got to love all the possibilities. Are you ready to start stock market dealer?

Talking Book formats: How they work

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006 by www

An audiobook generally comes in two formats: MP3 and WMA. Both of these formats will play on PCs and Macs and most portable players, like the iPod.

The book publisher chooses which format they want the title to be distributed in. When you purchase a downloadable talking book from an online store, you are usually taken to a special area of the site where you can choose from a variety of file format based on the quality of the recording.

Naturally, the higher the quality, the bigger the file and thus the longer it will take to download.
If you have a high speed broadband Internet connection you will probably prefer to download the highest quality file available. If you have a slow Internet connection you can choose to download a file that is smaller in size, but will not be of quite the same quality, but it will still be very listenable.

Weight Loss : The missing ingredient

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006 by www

There are a lot of weight loss products on the market but there’s one ingredient that many neglect. And that ingredient just may be the most critical when it comes to successfully shedding those pounds.

I’m talking about the digestive enzyme Lipase.

Lipase is an enzyme secreted by the pancreas into the small intestines. Once in the intestines, it breaks down lipids (fats) and triglycerides, which are fatty substances in the body that come from fat in the diet, into smaller fatty acids that can be easily absorbed and used by the body.

One recent study has found that 100% of obese people have a lipase deficiency. What this means to the body is that if you can’t properly break down fats to use as fuel through healthy metabolism, then the fat gets stored in the body as extra weight.

Without lipase, fat accumulates and can see it on your hips, thighs, buttocks and the stomach.

Lack of lipase also inhibits the absorption of nutrients. When the body is lacking nutrients, it creates a craving for more food to satisfy this deficiency.

Supplementing lipase in a nutrition product can greatly improve digestion and metabolism of fats. This can lead to increased energy, satisfaction from eating, stopping cravings, and .

As a terrific side benefit, lipase has also been found helpful in lowering cholesterol by decreasing fat deposits.

If you are looking for , adding a supplement that contains lipase can greatly increase your chance of burning off those stubborn pounds. Look for a product that contains natural ingredients and is free of harsh stimulants like ephedra, also known as mua huang which can increase blood pressure and cause anxiety and restlessness.

Remember, supplements should always be used as part of a weight loss program that includes a balanced diet of nutritious foods and moderate exercise. It is also wise to see your physician or naturopathic doctor before starting a program.
