Losing Those Extra Pounds To Stay Fit

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

Shedding Off Extra Pounds to Stay Fit is brought to you by BH Med Wear, Provider of Quality Hospital Gowns and Medical Apparel.

Everybody aims to be healthy. But how to stay healthy is another thing. Not everyone can manage to stay healthy. How to stay healthy is as challenging as becoming healthy. And we all want to be healthy, thus avoiding a .

Weighing In

Our weight has been important from the moment we were born. Probably a majority of people knows their weight at birth, which is less than 10 pounds and sometimes less than 3 or 4 pounds, and babies do quickly gain weight after birth.

As we get older, our weight is still important and keeping one’s weight within the normal range is vital for us to stay healthy. These days, being overweight is more common than being underweight. The activities and activity level of a person is extremely different now than before and such activities have considerably been reduced over the past years. More of the persons’ lifestyle is becoming sedentary and that’s precisely because of the technologies that we have in the present times. People tend to spend long hours watching the television or sitting in front of the computer while surfing the net, playing online games, or chatting, and sitting in their cars. Other than that, the food, which is mostly high in carbohydrates and high in cholesterol, are more preferred as they are readily available in fast-food restaurant. The stressful lifestyle is a contributory factor also in making one’s body unfit. The number of hours spent on deskbound activities consumes most of a person’s life that walking, stretching, or exercising is forgotten.

The excess pounds in our body have become a stigma that to avoid such shame would mean having to remove it. But for some, trimming down is something that they cannot do. Excuses for not able to shed off those extra bulges in one’s body are so many. Others say that they do not have time for it or are too busy that there is a slim chance or no time at all to have some exercise. Others claim they do not know how to trim down, and some simply can’t resist the temptation of eating delicious food loaded with saturated fats, high in cholesterol, and soaring with carbohydrates. It is a whole lot trouble-free to keep away from putting on some extra pounds than to trying to lose them later on.

As one gets older, controlling his weight and shunning weight gain have proven to be two of the most important ways to prevent a host of health problems. And once a person’s weight exceeds more than the ideal weight for his size and age, he becomes lazier to trim down, and that just adds up to the costly toll he will pay later for that extra pound. It is absolutely true that if a person is more than 20 pounds over his ideal weight, he has a great chance of getting potentially deadly health conditions like diabetes, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, breast cancer, obstructive sleep apnea, and many more, that can unfortunately land them in a Patient Gowns or Medical Gowns at a Hospital.

Eating the Right Food

Exercise and put off a few pounds. Gulp down a few glasses of water each day. Eat healthy food. Healthy food should be rich in fiber for easy digestion. These include vegetables and fruits. Do not forget food that is rich in protein. Remember, proteins are the building blocks of the body. They help repair body tissues. They help develop antibodies and carry oxygen throughout the body. Always maintain a stress-free life.

Generic Drugs And Why They Are Less Expensive

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

My wife is adamant about us asking for generic drugs when we need prescriptions. In fact, she gets upset if there isn’t a generic available, especially if it is something expensive like HGH or steroids. So why are they cheaper?
Generic drugs are cheaper for a number of reasons. They stem from the expiration of a patent, and this allows free competition, which immediately lowers the price.

Many different companies can now produce the drug and compete to sell it, so they want to get the production costs and profit margins down as low as possible while still retaining profitability in order to undercut their rivals.

Patent holders on the other hand, have great expenses in developing and testing a new drug, and often net high profits in order to make this money back before the patent ends. They don’t need to lower the price of their product as there is no competition. In additions, even after the patent wears out, they keep their prices high because they are the “branded” drug of choice for that particular ailment. What I’m getting it here is that people are unaware there is a generic available, but they do recognize the name of their favorite colon cleansing prescription.

There are often lower costs in developing and testing the drug for manufactures of generics. This is due to the fact that most of the hard work has already been done by the original developer and the competing company just has to prove to regulators their drug is bioequivalent and contains no harmful substances. They may not even have to go through any clinical trials.

They also receive benefits of the previous patent holders marketing and often the drug is already well known by the medical profession making it easier to sell. The lower price may also open up new markets who were priced out before. Of course, they have to kick in the marketing machine and get the word out to doctors.

Cheaper does not mean lower in quality as generic drugs are just as tightly regulated as branded alternatives. So next time you hit the pharmacy, see if there is an equivalent generic for your needs.

In The Mood For A Great Work Environment? How About Engineering Manager Jobs?

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

Are you thinking of looking for a new career in construction project manager jobs? This article is a good place to start for some great background information about the career path.

Project management careers involve the practice of planning[/c] organizing[/c] and managing resources to see a project through to its successful completion. (A project can be thought of as a specific[/c] finite undertaking with specific start and end dates[/c] which is undertaken to create a unique service or product). This is quite different from a process[/c] which is usually an ongoing[/c] repetitive type of work. There is clearly a big difference between the two!
The most difficult aspect of project management is to meet all of the projects goals and objectives[/c] while keeping the project within its scope[/c] up to predefined standards of quality[/c] on time[/c] and on (or preferably under) budget. The individual working as a project manager must optimize all aspects of the project to use resources such as money[/c] people[/c] materials[/c] energy[/c] space[/c] and communication to meet the projects goals and objectives.

A project manager or someone working Engineering Manager Jobs does not usually participate directly in activities that help meet the end result of a project[/c] but acts more as a manager or coordinator[/c] to maintain the momentum of the project and facilitate communication between parties to ensure that the project succeeds. They must be highly adaptable[/c] as every client will have a different set of internal procedures[/c] and they must be capable of forming close working connections with everyone involved in a process. Vision is also important- a project manager needs to be able to see the whole scope of the project from start to finish and ensure that that vision is reached. Many[/c] many different products or services are brought to market with the aid of project managers- everything from pharmaceuticals to vehicles an buildings[/c] from financial services to software has likely been overseen by a project manager at some point.
A project manager is responsible for analysis[/c] planning[/c] risk management[/c] estimating resource use (and allocation of resources)[/c] organizing the work[/c] acquiring resources (human beings and materials)[/c] assigning and directing tasks[/c] tracking and reporting on progress[/c] forecasting future trends[/c] quality management[/c] change control[/c] project closure[/c] and most importantly[/c] communication with everyone involved in every aspect of the project[/c] from start to finish.
Project managers used to really just be glorified construction project foreman[/c] however[/c] late last century[/c] the project management field has grown into its own specialty. Recently[/c] several trade associations within the US have come together to begin forming a common set of qualifications to determine what makes a project manager “competent” so that people working Project Manager Jobs have a standard to live up to.

Investing In Technology Stocks

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

The infra structure of technology has not quite reached puberty. The very best is yet to come. In particular I am referencing Internet technology and mobile access to the world wide market place of information and support system that enables total remote access. Additionally, the use of technology in the field of medicine, health care and other related services.

Investing in Technology Stocks
The list of products and services in the pipeline of small, medium and large companies is astounding.
Within the field of technology is the corner stone of all the products is security software and services. The talk on Wall Street is that technology stocks are ripe for investing in todays market. This piece of information is noteworthy, but having watched the exuberance of gross gains in the last decade go blow , not all technology stocks are the same.

The specific areas that appear in my opinion to be situated well for future growth are in health care related stocks, multi-media and graphic software, security software, networking and communication devices and specialized areas of electronics. There are other categories, but these areas of technology are poised for future gains in my opinion.

Health Care Related Stocks:

Imagine the future of delivering health care services. The physician practicing in a remote town in Alaska who can consult with a specialist located at John Hopkins Medical Center. In real time the rural doctor can send and receive vital radiological and metabolic tests and results. Imagine medical scientists, physicians and university medical centers consulting on their data enable mobile phone devices. Some of these technologies exist today, but the future is going to be fantastic.

In the small cap arena several health care delivery stocks are generating interest. Mediware Information Systems is a $7 stock that will likely double in the foreseeable future. It trades under the stock symbol MEDW on the NASDAQ stock exchange. This relatively small company has a huge presence in the hospital services area. MEDW has three components in its software applications all that aid hospitals and physicians to track and modify drug orders, blood management and perioperative functions. These tools are used extensively in the United States and their application is being applied in other countries including African nations. More on Investing in Stocks.

Searching For A Great Work Environment? Have You Considered Oil And Gas Jobs?

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

Need advice for your search for Civil Engineering Jobs? Here are some tips for preparing your resume and getting your dream job!

A work experience resume is a short, one page document where you outline your qualifications, credentials, experience and skills for potential employers. You have probably filled out a job application form in the past. A resume can either act as a substitute for a job application, or can be submitted alongside a job application. Your employer will tell you which they prefer, or if they would like both. Your resume is the starting point for your new career, and it should reflect your worth as a potential employee!

Usually, for unskilled or quick-turnover jobs (such as foodservice or general labor), you will not need to provide a resume. Most technical, professional, administrative and sales positions will require a formal resume, and occasionally, a skilled labor job such as welder, drafter or electrician may require one as well. There is no one “right” format for your resume. What type you choose will depend on your needs, and the format should be the one you feel best highlights your skills and work experience. You want to design your resume so that it is easy to read, so that your potential employer does not have to go far to see all of your qualifications, skills, and contact information. A resume is not supposed to be longer than 1 page in most cases, and it is absolutely essential that it not contain any typos or spelling errors, as the resume is what gets your foot in the door for an interview, which is where the work of getting hired really starts!

Here are more important considerations when you are setting your resume up for Civil Engineering Jobs.

You may use your resume for many different functions, but the most common will be to apply for a job. You can use your resume to give a company you would like to work for more information about yourself than they would get from a simple job application, and if the person doing the hiring has your resume in front of them in advance you can bank on the fact that they will ask questions about your previous work experience. You should never leave the interview without leaving behind a copy of your resume as a reminder of your skills, abilities and qualifications.

When it comes time to sit down and lay out your resume, you will want to have all of your personal and work history information compiled in one place. Personal information includes your work history- the jobs you have worked before and the duties involved, along with a list of skills and talents you acquired doing those jobs. Personal information consists of your church and school activities as well as a list of your hobbies, clubs and sports.

Job information is the specific information about the job you are applying for. How will you know if you even want the job without knowing what it entails? You can surmise this information by looking at the job advertisement, and if you cannot, you can call the employer directly and request a more explicit explanation of the jobs duties. You will also need to know how much education and experience are required for the job to help you figure out if you are a good fit for it, along with basic information such as pay, hours, and shifts.

Now that you have got your information together, it is time to figure out what actually needs to go on your resume. Do not fall into the common trap of submitting the same resume for every different job you apply to- customize your resume for each individual job and it will pay off later. Try and swap roles with the interviewer and ask yourself “what kind of candidate would be a good fit for this position”, and then customize your resume to include brief, specific, positive information that works towards filling those needs.

Your resume should contain the following information:

Your contact information (your full name, address, apartment number, city, state, zip, phone (home and cell) and email)

A statement of your employment objective

The exact job you are interested in applying to, such as “entry-level assistant”

A summary of your qualifications

Work History- list jobs by skill set or date

Education

Any job-related training, education or certifications you hold

A list of your military experience including branch, rank, type and date of discharge/separation)

A list of special abilities or skills

A statement indicating your willingness to provide references.

Use the tips outlined above. Also use a word processing program, your resume will look more professional. Much luck on your search for Civil Engineering Jobs!

Rheumatoid Arthritis Vs Lupus: Identifying The Difference

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

The fact that they are both autoimmune disorders in which the body sets upon itself and causes damage, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis are often confused with each other. So, where do you draw the line?

Experts agree that it’s almost impossible to diagnose these diseases because the clinical symptoms and laboratory abnormalities tend to overlap.

Both of affect women much more frequently than men. They are also both multisystem diseases, meaning, they can damage many organs. Like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis zeroes in and causes damage to the blood vessels. Both diseases cause abnormality to the immune system, resulting in damaged tissues.

Lupus or systemic lupus erythematosus, is a complex disease whose cause is still undetermined. It can affect many parts of the body including joints, skin, and internal organs. Most often, the person develops a rash in the shape of a butterfly on the cheeks and across the bridge of the nose. Other symptoms include fatigue, hair loss, inflammation of the kidney, mouth sores, sensitivity to light, fever, and weight loss.

Like lupus, the cause of rheumatoid arthritis is unknown. It usually affects the wrists, fingers, knees, feet, and ankles. The disease usually begins to manifest itself with fatigue and weakness, morning stiffness that lasts for more than an hour, widespread muscle aches, and loss of appetite.

In lupus, it is common for the patient to experience joint pain, but this pain is not associated with actual damage to the join itself. In some cases, swelling is not present in people with lupus. In rheumatoid arthritis, however, swelling is always present. This swollen lining is called the synovium. Pain is commonly felt by patients, but it is less prominent compared to that of lupus.

One person can suffer from both lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. When someone with lupus develops symptoms of rheumatoid-like arthritis, including deformities of the joint, he or she should be given medicines for people with rheumatoid arthritis. The patient is prescribed the standard RA treatment forms such as methotrexate, sulfasalazine, and, in some cases, stronger[/spin drugs to control joint inflammation.

Free Time Proven Tips About Business Plan

October 6th, 2008 by www   Subscribe To My Feed

Business Plans - What Do They Include?

Ok… so you’ve finally reached that stage in the development of your home business to get started. You’ve done the research, you have a game plan and you’re ready to go except for one small detail… you need money. Regardless of who hears your money pitch before they give you a dime they will want see your business plan.

Business Plan - What Is It?

A good way to think of a business plan is that’s it’s a document that provide answers to the type of questions anyone who may provide financing would like to know about your home business. You will not get outside funding without one, because the people giving you the funding will insist on one because it helps them to know that you’ve thought through what you’re proposing to do. A business plan says to them… “I’ve considered this from every angle, and here’s what I’ve come up with”.

Business Plan - What Does It Include?

What is your product or service? This is the first question every business plan should answer. You must explain in the clear, concise language what in the world you plan to produce or what service you plan to provide. You will also want to include why you’ve chosen this particular product or service.

Who are Your Customers? After you’ve explained your product or service, the next step is to identify who you plan to sell your product or service too and why.

What Makes You Different? You need to identify the “primary factors” that will make your business different than other businesses you’ll be competing with. What niche are you filling that they are not or what do you plan to do to fill a particular void in the market that you’ve identified?

What are Your Expenses? Your start-up expenses include any equipment that you need before you can get up-and-running, while your day-to-day expenses are staff costs and supplies.

Following is a Simplified Example of Business Plan

This a a simplified and shortened version of a business plan. In the real world… each one of the following sections would be 1 - 2 pages in length. That being said… in most instances it’s better to be as brief as possible. Only add information if your potential backers request it. It’s a bad idea to go into too much detail in your plan. You’re not trying to explain everything down to the nth detail, just the basics of the business and why they should give you the money you need to launch it. And always focus on profit.

Catering Plus

Nature of Business: The business will be a home-based catering company, producing luxury food for special occasions such as birthdays and weddings. We will provide a comprehensive catering service, while specializing in high end customized cakes, which have a higher profit margin than other foods.

Target Market: Our catering business will be aimed at middle-class customers who desire a top-of-the-line catering but must operate on a budget.

Key Factors: We will only use commerical grade ingredients purchased from wholesalers and provide top quality design and service. This will allow us to provide food that looks tastes great, while keeping costs as low as possible.

Expenses: Beause I will be using my kitchen and making the food myself, there are only two real expenses: The purchase of an industrial grade mixer and then the day-to-day cost of supplies. I’ve attached a suppliers’ letter listing prices. Our research has shown that this supplier offers the best value for start-ups.

To wrap it up, you should include a breakdown of both projected profit and loss per month (in graph form) for the first year in business. Show one-time and day-to-day expenses versus projected profit to indicate how you will pay-off your loan. Your business plan should show you making enough of a profit each month to live on ? if it doesn’t, then it may be considered unfeasible.

Study a Few Real-World Business Plans

The best way to get a real a feel for the dos and do nots of a business plans is to find real-world plans that have already been approved and study them. A good place to start is the internet. Once you’ve studied a few, you will get a better feel for how much work will be involved in putting your business plan together. Remember, until your business exists for real, the business plan is the only tool you have to sell prospective backers on how great your business is going to be.
